Radiant barriers are installed in homes most commonly in attics. The barrier will reduce summer heat gain and winter heat loss, which helps lower heating and cooling costs. The barrier consist of a highly reflective material that reflects radiant heat rather than absorbing it. It was developed by NASA for use in space suites.

How Radiant Barriers Work

Heat travels from a warm area to a cool area by a combination of conduction, convection, and radiation. Heat flows by conduction from a hotter material to a colder material when the two materials touch. Heat transfer by convection occurs when a liquid or gas is heated, becomes less dense, and rises. Radiant heat travels in a straight line away from the hot surface and heats anything solid as the wave of energy hits it.

When the sun heats a roof, it's primarily the sun's radiant energy that makes the roof hot. A large portion of this heat travels by conduction through the roofing materials to the attic side of the roof. The hot roof material then radiates its gained heat energy into the cooler attic. A radiant barrier reduces the radiant heat transfer from the roof to the attic space.

The barrier blanket is Fiberglass reinforced (perforated) aluminum foil insulation; Fire retardant; Reflects 97% of radiation heat. Perforated aluminum foil radiant barrier to eliminating sweating; Use for attics, roof and walls ; Easily stapled into place in attic on ceiling joists or rafters, sealed with aluminum tape; Adhesion Good on clean and dry surface; No Discoloration Resistance Excellent resistance to water, water vapor, oxidation and weathering.

Most home owner's roll out the barrier blanket right over there coexisting insulation. You may tape it down if you want. But remember; this is a transportability item and is easily removed to take to your new home or apartment.

Radiant Barrier Blanket has been saving our customers up to 35% or more depending on your homes condition. Our personal experience after installing the blanket in the attic has been a savings of 50%. This has been averaging about $120.00 less each month on our electric and natural gas bills combined.

When you look in our attic the first thing you notice is the lack of heat. Our attic has the same winter air inside as the outside. This means there little heat loss through our ceiling.  If the snow is melting from your roof then you need the barrier blanket installed to help save you money too.

power-save 1200We love hearing positive feedback from our Power-Save 1200 customers so thanks to Hal and Joe for sending along the following two depictions of their experience with the Power-Save 1200:

1) "This is Hal Waeglarz calling from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We had a Power-Save 1200 installed in our home about a month ago and I'm just calling to thank you folks enormously because our kilowatt usage, according to this bill, is down almost 900 kilowatt hours already. Our total usage is 2135 kilowatt hours, last month it was 2949, and it has not been any warmer here.

I also stress tested this thing (the Power-Save 1200) against what we did a year ago and it's down substantially from about 150 kilowatt hours per day and now we're down to 76-77 per day. I mean, this thing has performed well beyond what I had anticipated. I just wanted to thank you guys very much." - Hal Waeglarz Lancaster, Pennsylvania

2) "My power company is WREC (Withlacoochee River Electric Co-Op). Our power bill for January was about $262.00 and our february was about 200.00 after installing the power-save unit. COOOOOOOOOL!!! We use about 1200kwh a month. Depending on credits and rebates I was interested in a 2-3 kwh solar system. We have a steel roof with good southern exposure. Thanks for your time." - Joe Fox Lecanto, Florida
